Current application cycle: Summer 2025
Open to: Continuing Researchers
The Center for Undergraduate Research in Viterbi Engineering (CURVE) Program provides a centralized resource for Viterbi undergraduate students to explore research opportunities early in their academic career. In partnership with faculty, CURVE facilitates the placement of Viterbi undergraduate students in research labs to gain hands-on experience on faculty-led projects. CURVE fellows receive stipends and participate in professional development opportunities that prepare them as future leaders in engineering and computer science research.
The Summer 2025 CURVE application cycle is open to continuing researchers, who are defined as current Viterbi undergraduate students who have already participated in undergraduate research experiences at USC for at least 2 semesters by the start of summer 2025. This category generally applies to undergraduate students in their second year or above. Prior research experiences include both paid and voluntary opportunities.
Continuing Researchers submit a research project proposal and a letter of funding support from their faculty mentor. A limited number of continuing research participants will receive $3000 for the summer 2025 semester. The stipend will comprise of a 50/50 cost-share model, between CURVE and the sponsoring faculty or other external funding sources.
